That is quite a remarkable teaser, if I've seen one. It's not everyday that you see a creation based off of the Wizard of Oz, so it'll be fun to see how this turns out. Can't wait to see more from the both of you!

Also, I can't tell, is that a floor pattern on the path, or is it a structure? The angle makes it look kinda like an optical illusion!  :P

This will be interesting.... are you both creating your own CS for this or are you using Vodhin's "Oz" set?

Ah, but that's the point of a teaser, isn't it? To tease?

Looks great! I love how you got the compass correct too!

Thank you!

I'm glad you're bringing the books into it! You'd be surprised how many people only know about the movie.

Question: Will you be including 'stuff' from the recent Oz movie? Oz the Great and Powerful?

In large part this is going to be based on an actual planned OZ Theme Park that almost came into being about a decade ago.  That park was based on the books AND the MGM movie.  We'll need to take a few liberties, both artistically and because of the restraints in RCT3, but we're using that park as a guide.

There are things in the new movie that are based on both as well, so there's a good possibility that some things might look familiar because of that, but this will more than just what we saw in the movies.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone, we've been having a lot of fun creating this park so far.

One can only imagine how spectacular Oz will be, now that there are two Wizards behind the curtain, rather than just one. ;)

I seem to remember the day The Wizard of OZ was first published...it was only 1900!

That's Wagi and I, getting some hands on experience!

After the success of the Wizard of OZ, L. Frank Baum moved to Hollywood, and he and his wife moved into a large Craftsman style bungalow he aptly named Ozcot. It stood at 1749 Cherokee Avenue, just a block north of Hollywood Blvd.  Baum loved gardens and flowers, and even won prizes for his chrysanthemums and dahlias in local shows. He delighted in whiling away the hours puttering in his garden while crafting new adventures for his many OZ characters.

In our Wonderful World of OZ theme park, Ozcot has been lovingly recreated as a small museum, furnished with many mementoes of Baum's life;

There a Urban Legends about the  The Wizard of Oz Hanging / Munchkin Suicide :scared:

It is just that...an urban legend! It is a stork or crane borrowed from the zoo in a tree. I refer you here;

http://www.snopes.com/movies/films/ozsuicide.asp

No flying monkeys or munchkins were harmed in the making of the classic 1939 Wizard of OZ, nor will any be harmed in the creation of the Wonderful World of OZ theme park!

good to know we don't have to endure any lies about hanging munchkins.  My favorite was always the creepy flying monkeys in the original film along with the scarecrow.   Was never a big fan of Glenda, found her to be annoying in that she knew how to get Dorthy home all long but made her wait an hour and a half to find out!  How rude!

And yes it is that time of year when the film is traditionally aired on TV, used to be an annual thing for us to watch it.  My mom was never a fan but my brother and I loved that movie.

Can't wait to see what you guys have in store for this. If the teasers are any indication of what's to come, than this is going to be incredible!

Well, the wait will be a little longer. We still have lots to show at the gate!

As the title of the book suggests, the park is devoted to the works of L. Frank Baum;

Or is it? ....

Thank you all for your wonderful replies, and especially for featuring us in the weekly ambassador!

The Wonderful World of OZ will take it's inspiration from many of the Baum books, as our book arch shows;
