Three Mountains Park - some news and impressions

Hello!
My name is Johan Steiner, 31 years old, originally born in the imaginary country Engmany, where german and english are the main spoken languages. I haven't visited my home country since 1985 (my family emmigrated to Germany then), but I plan to return by late summer to visit the greatest theme park of my home country - the Three Mountains Park!

I just found a box full of all the old flyers that I collected throughout the history of the park. Even though I was only there 2 times in the early 80s (when I was just a little child), I became such a big fan of the park that I managed to collect brochures and postcards from every year.

Now I got some time to scan them all - and show you!
So here's the brochure of 1970, the year when the park opened with a small collection of rides and bear enclosures.





As you can see from the map, the park got its name from the three mountains, that the park was build within. A lot of things changed ever since 1970, but that's going to be told by every update that I'll be posting in the future

note from RCTelch: The hotel "Marina Star" in game is still incomplete, though it "is" in the story of the park.
Now I'm hoping for some comments and critique

This park is great! I love how you fit the paths around the mountains, it looks very realistic. The difference in ground textures is great! (something I need to work on) Keep it up!

Damn!This is very impressive. Though there are a few things that could be improved on, the majority looks great. The first picture blew my mind. Good editing there!

Since this is a bilingual park (with things named either english or german), I thought I should point out that "Wirbelwind" (4) is whirlwind, and "Super Rutsche" (6) is super slide.
If there is anything unclear in the future, feel free to ask :-)

It's a long way to go (though 41 years can go by much quicker than expected), and I HOPE my computer will keep up with the growing park this time

Wow! This has to be one of the best presentations I've seen in a while. Not only did you capture the park itself greatly, but the everything just in the thread flows is amazing! Keep up the great work!

Now that's wha tI call a first post. The presentation is good, the story is interesting and the park is outstanding. You have cleary put a lot of effort into this. Keep it up!

Hey it's Johan again, now I scanned the 1971 brochure for you. In the early history of Three Mountains Park there were only minor changes, but the brochure shows some new sights from the park. 1971 saw no new ride. The hotel Marina Star was finished finally, the log flume got a new entrance and renamed to german "Wildwasserbahn" (lit. "wild water ride", german equivalent term for engl. "log flume") and the snack booths there got extended on the way up to the ghost castle.
A new information was placed near the polar bears, and the grizzly bear enclosure saw some minor changes as well.

I believe my parents visited the park once in the 70s before I was born, I should ask them, maybe they have some old fotos or other stuff.

This is a lovely park! I can imaging a terrain woodie up in those hills!

It's awful to see how your previous park didn't receive any comments..
And yet you took the effort to present your next park!

This looks absolutely amazing, really nice lay-out, great architecture, good atmosphere.
Good use of color also. I like the subtle soft editing and as other said,
you really take care of your presentation, which is really positive.

I'm sorry if things go a bit slow, but it's the 70s in a young, mid-size european park rightnow...
Johan is back to his computer tomorrow (he hopes) for the update 1972.

This is excellent, I really like it Elch! The presentation is fantastic with the maps and brochures, and the entrance is great. It reminds me a bit of Alton Towers.

Hello here's Johan again, I'm back with a new update!
New year - new ride!
The "Krake" (octopus) hit the park in 1972. I know it's moving within the park in some later year, but for now it was located next to the log flume and the ghost castle.

My parents said they were in the park by the late 70s. My mum promised me to search if they still have some fotos :-)

I was too small for the log flume when I visited, but my mum especially remembers that first drop that is shown here, where the log comes out of a cave and drops through an arch and then under another part of the track!
Can't wait to visit the park again!!

I love this park, I love it how you make this "park map" everytime,
it makes it look very professional and realistic.

I love It, I love the main entrance and area buildings look superb But I would suggest support your rides a little. as your very good at making buildings ect, so supporting your rides shouldn't be a problem. I like to see how you support, Wooden Mouse Coaster.

Thank you, guys. I am aware that I should make use of supports, it's just that it's a very new concept for me - unlike doing layouts for parks. I will try my best though!
This wild mouse is quite dense also with narrow buildings around, I have to search for some general supports tutorial (is there one?) and check some pictures of real wild mouses.

I really, really like the log ride. The way it twists through the rock. Its really nice.

The rest of the park is on an equal level. Its all so well done and constructed.

Krake: Something very sick/twisted. Root word of Kraken. Kraken: Giant Squid/Octopus. It's fun to derive things from roots of words to find a reasoning between words!

The ride looks cool! I can't get enough of your brochures!

Nice rockwork on the log flume! Maybe add some vegetation on it and boulders from other sets sprinkled here and there. The park looks great, very cool!

Krake is really german for octopus, but fun to see that it has another meaning in english
The log flume gets slightly modified very soon, but more rocks and vegetation might have to wait. Considered though, thanks :-)

Hey it's me again! 1973 had a new ride again, the new wave swing "Wellenflieger", which kind of is the standard name for these rides that were all new back then (they first appeared in 1972 afaik). So Three Mountains Park was one of the first parks to have such a thing.
You will see on the map that the minigolf course had to move further away to make place for it.
With the expansion of this year, the northeastern part of the park gets touched. There is a lot more to come later, but for now it's the wave swing and the minigolf there

No new postcards today, they only released new ones for bigger updates from then on.
Also the pictures in the brochure might start repeating themselves, as it was quite common for parks back then and still now for some.
1974 brought a big loss for the park, more on that with the next update!
