(TUT) - Smoothed out path crosses
« on: March 12, 2017, 04:31 AM »
Hey there, I randomly found out about this trick yesterday and wondered if anyone else knows about it, if not here you have a quick tutorial!

1. Lay out your path cross (doesn't necessarily need to be two paths or perfectly 90° to each other).

2. Add paths in between (direction and size of this path will later on affect the shape of the curve).

3. Delete the last bit of the paths you added in Step 2.

I hope this was helpful for some people.

If you want a video with some more examples on it, let me know!

I also noticed that if the second set of four (the second cross) uses wider paths, you can get a larger radius on the smoothed out part (at least this sometimes works for me).

I've been doing this ever since I've this game. I am surprised to see some didn't even know this haha.

You can use this in almost every situation, though it might be hard to pull it off without deleting the whole path. This also results in bigger paths and gives us the opportunity to make more off-grid squares. Though I have to say, we you do this allot on one path section, one missclick and a whole square disappears. Lucky for us we have a redo button :P

^I think I just accidentally found that out. I tried to repeat this trick until I had smooth plazas... and somehow it worked.  :scared:

This is all one big, continuous section of path - seems like we could make plazas after all. Thank you Bear!

Haha, I was also about to post something about this trick today, because I accidentally discovered it a week ago as well.

Basically when you make an intersection and remove it, it smooths out the path:

I've spent the past 4 hours sorting out my pathing using this technique. Still have a long way to go till it's completely sorted, but I just wanted to briefly say:

God bless you, you beautiful specimen of a human being.  :P

Seriously though, this is so helpful to me (likewise to other members of the community). I'm grateful for the tip!
