Wonder Beach Boardwalk (Phase One Grand Opening)
« on: June 20, 2017, 03:57 PM »
Once upon a time...

...a small park called Laguna Beach was created by an RCT3 player. It wasn't very good.

Mr. Wonder bought the park for ONE MILLLION DOLLARS!, and began to refurbish it in the Wonder style.

He renamed it Laguna Beach Boardwalk. He made many changes, but never finished...

And now, Mr. Wonder is at it again.

Wonder Beach Boardwalk! Coming soon to Wonder World Resort.

What's Mr. Wonder up to?  Voodoo and necromancy, obviously.  He has won the long struggle with Walt Disney's Head and harnessed its unholy power to his will.  First he used it to resurrect the Expo area after the recent disaster.  Now he uses it to bring this old, dead park back to life.  All tremble before the might of Mr. Wonder, wielder of Disney's Head!

Well you've certainly caught my attention!

I'm already loving the look of that. Perfection.

I think this park will translate well to Planet Coaster as these first pics already prove.

Construction slowly continues on the entrance to Wonder Beach Boardwalk. Now that the Speedway 3000 has finally opened, construction should start moving forward on this park.

Love seeing you do more ornate, real world architecture (no offense Expo 3000!). I'm definitely getting Coronado vibes.

"Wonder Beach Boardwalk" just doesn't flow off the tongue like "Laguna Beach Boardwalk" did...I 'wonder' why?

But then to be honest I'm surprised there aren't 20 foot tall letters spelling out "TRUMP"...er, I mean "WONDER" plastered on top of that building.  Thankfully shyguy's architectural skills take the focus off whatever the place is called, so it looks warm and inviting despite it's name.

Another pure nostalgia re-make. I'm in love. In the original Wonder Beach I seem to recall your spinning coaster to be my favorite. That cornicing!! Mainstreet pack all over again?  :D

I agree with Johny, it's like you figured out how to import all of your mainstreet RCT scenery into Planet Coaster  :P

Love it all, especially the cornices and the round window.

I think Wonder Beach rolls off the tongue so much better than LAHG-GOON-AH Beach. And who is "Trump"?

Thanks. I definitely needed a break from Expo 3000.

The spinning coaster was Vertigo, a little coaster I was fairly proud of. That will most likely be the first attraction built for this park.

Beautiful work, Shyguy!  So many ideas to steal just from that one building!
That's only fair, as I will certainly by stealing from your work as well. ;)

My mainstreet sets were mostly just a combination of simple shapes. I'm just doing the same in PC. :)

Thanks, Aces. This is my more casual park project. Simpler and easier to build than Wonder World.

Man your buildings are something! You pulled the classic seaside building look well! Good job!
Thanks Plokoon.

Very nice buildings and details.  I like your wheelchairs, which are more scaled to peeps than the ones I've made.

The best solution I've been able to come up with is to shine white floodlights up onto the ceiling from floor level or below.  It's not perfect but it helps.

The yellowing happens to every tile and texture you use for the ceiling.  It's actually the result of how building pieces do not block sunlight but still cast shadows.  What you're seeing is the shadow of the building parts above the ceiling being cast on the ceiling.  Getting rid of shadows requires applying light.

I remember when you first put the boardwalk logo on the building with an alpha texture in RCT3 and I thought it was the coolest/smartest thing ever.  ;D This looks awesome.  ;)

Loooove how you transplanted the first aid sign that came from the RCT3 version from the in game shop. Such a comfortable atmosphere so far. I'm sure Cafe Alfredo will be delightful as well.

Also, looking at the overview, I'm impressed and surprised by how far you got in the original. I never realized you redid almost everything but the flying coaster and water ride.

I know it's crazy I remember so much but these parks were my childhood!

It was Cafe Al Fresco, not Alfredo.:P  But I'm still impressed with your memory of this park. And the Cafe will be the next thing I'll be building.

Cafe Al Fresco looks brilliant.  ;)

It's charming how accurately you recreated the pieces you used from RCT3, like the Vodhin Ironworks and your very own topiary pots.

I love that very slight elevation change you've put in there. And that ironwork is just so simple, yet does the job amazingly well.

Why is it every time I think I know every possible way to make tables and chairs out of the parts available, you show me a new method?  :D
