Where in the World are You?
« on: July 24, 2017, 12:02 AM »
I think one of the great things about SGW is the diversity of its members and the fact that we come from many different places from around the world. It's really cool that we can reach out to each other across the many miles and share our creativity and passion (and nerdisms). So please share with us where in the world you live and your nationality (if different from your country of residence).

I live in San Diego, California, in the good 'ole USA. :)

This is the location of my home city:
Spoiler (hover to show)

Is there a way to implement some kind of map where each member can mark his/her location on? That would be kinda cool imo.

I live in a small town near by Cologne in Germany. I'm so happy to be close to some amazing theme parks like Efteling and Phantasialand B)

While I'm an American (from Bellingham WA, north of Seattle...), I've lived the past 15 years in São Paulo, Brazil where I have a permanent resident visa.

I live near The Hague, Netherlands.

I also live near several theme parks, actually within cycling distance of two small parks (Duinrell and Drievliet). It sounds great but the truth is I only go to theme parks once or twice a year because it's too expensive and I often have nobody to go with :(
Nothing to see here

I'm just north of Baltimore for 1/4 of the year.

The other 3/4 I'm in Savannah, Georgia for educational purposes. Hella expensive as well.

I live pretty much right in the center between Brussels and Amsterdam, which means that Efteling is not far away for me at all, but I haven't been there for over 2 years  :(  I should really visit it again because I haven't even seen Baron yet.

Also, have fun in Oslo!  ;D

Wow I feel very bad for you. It´s such an irony the country that spawned some of the best manufacturers in the industry has no real theme parks.

And you are a real lucky person THM!  :mad:up:

I too live in Houston, Texas.  I'm south of town in the suburbs.  Here's my view from my balcony.  I can see the downtown skyline on a clear day (not in this pic though...the buildings are just to the left out of frame...oops!).

Here's one of my home parks, the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier (It's about 45 minutes south.  I took this pic last week!):

No one else from the great state of Missouri? We've got a kind of lame Cedar Fair park on my side and a kind of lame Six Flags on the other! (I actually prefer its theming to SF Great America, but it's certainly lacking in the coaster department.) And Silver Dollar City's pretty good even though it's pretty out of the way further south, but not in the part of the south that thinks the Confederacy still exists.

Okay, Missouri might have some problems.

OK - I really haven't looked through or checked in with the chat section, but plan on doing so as best I can. I was born and raised in Chicago and lived in the Chicago area for like 54 years...now I'm in Ft Myers Florida, in a telecommuting "working" retirement lifestyle. One of the best things...My bro works at WDW and its only a 2.5 quick drive for me now...(and its great when he can get me in for free).

I'm amazed at all the community members from around the world and how we can chat so easily. When I was younger this is something that would never be available or even thought of. Sometimes I still feel like a loner in the world getting used to my little corner in Florida and forget that there is a whole world of very diverse places to live. This is really cool.

My 'hood...

The bright spot of light just to left of lower center on the coast with bands of light radiating out from it...a little ways to the right of that you can see Rio de Janeiro's blob of lights
