What is the point of invisible doodads?

What purpose do they serve? Is it necessary to create a realistic park? Please advise, thanks!

Here for example at my Aquatrax project I wanted to incorperate the slide as a tower.
The grey clay is not looking good so I make invisble entrance, exit and invisble path connections to get this invisble.
Its for theming purposes when you want to make the entrance or the exit diffrent as its ingame.
The direction of the peeps cannot be changed though I think..;)

Invisible doodads basically allows you to make many things invisible. They aren't entirely necessary for realistic park, but if you want a realistic AND functional park they're pretty much necessary. For example, if you want functional stations or shops, they can't be realistic unless you use invisible doodads (otherwise you'll have some ugly construction in your park). Also, if you want to have 'terrain' paths (e.g. a grass or sandy path) then you'll need invisible doodads.
I'd definitely recommend using them.
