- Moonlight Hollow - Update 5: PHASE 3 Download!
« on: October 25, 2017, 12:10 PM »
Welcome
to

Moonlight Hollow

This old nature park was the top in the state, bringing thousands to it's natural beauty, but slowly it fell into disrepair. Guests stopped coming, nature took over. It sat closed for years until an unknown company purchased it. Using the overgrown trees and plants to their advantage they transformed the park and sent it into the past. This simple park has brought new glory to the area with it's charm, but by night it becomes a living nightmare.

New Beginnings

Moonlight Hollow is a small park, but what it lacks in size it brings charm. Flowing and moving with the land, it's like a dream. First established as a park after the Old Manor became a landmark, it has grown and added many additions. Coasters, shops, games and food now flow throughout.

Welcome to the park! These gates may be small but what's inside is so much more.

Salem Street is the entrance plaza. Shops line the street selling all sorts of items and gifts.

The manor is the oldest structure, recently refurbished this manor towers over the park. Built in the late 1800's, it was home to two sisters that were known to practice magic and witchcraft. Not much is known about them as they were very seclusive.

Just to the left of the manor you come to the oldest section of the park. A Carousel and Zipper can be found here along with one of the newest additions, the Horseman wooden coaster.

Compact, short, and fast! This coaster packs major airtime while twisting and turning into the nearby lake.

An overview of the front of the park. (still a lot of work to get done.)

Love everything about the entrance, but also that shot of the fountain staged with jack-o-lanterns in front of the Manor... it just wreaks of charm.

It's very charming and cosy! I love it already :) I presume the halloween decorations in front the manor aren't an all-year-round thing ;) And yeah...practicing witchcraft at that manor?! You gotta make sure that land ain't cursed ;)

Well I think that's only a few comments to go through! :o  Thank you so much everyone for the kind words. I'm trying for realism so it's nice to know it's working for the most part.  ;D

UPDATE 2: The Gardens

Moonlight Hollow found that not everyone loves Halloween year round, so they have switched gears and brought new light to the park. New festive decor can be found without the entrance, soon it will spread to the rest of the park(as I build it)  ;D

Last time we traveled left of the manor, now we are going to the right into the gardens. This is where the natural beauty of the forest comes in. The paths flow, the flowers bloom, and the trees grow tall.

As you look back down the path, lush flowers and trees surround us as we make our way up hill.

The gardens are home to two attractions. Drat Flyer and the Saw Mill Rapids.

Looking from the end of the gardens.

An over view of the area shows how compact it is.

Fun stuff. I love the dense tree line. Be sure to watch for those focal points though when dealing with dense foliage. Creating visual draws can make the areas all the better.
Initiating power transfer...

Such beautiful pictures you present here. I like the general atmosphere and integration of the rafting into the park area. I like the idea that you adapt your park the the different seasons. Great job!

If there's one thing you have mastered (and there are several things), its atmosphere. Its oozing character out of my screen here. Love the low hanging branches and how everything flows together beautifully!

You all are too much! Thank you all for the wonderful comments!

andreizsmart - I've redone the trees about 5 times now, each time I'm getting sight lines better. I actually just redid them again for the rapids and will be continuing as I move on. Finding the good "believable" spot is hard.

_mister_MR_ - Character is what I love.  ;D

mb1.0.2 - It's the biggest pain! I made the rapids small for that reason. Would I do it again? For brocoaster? Absolutely!  ;D

JayBlastOne - Thanks!

RCT D! - Most parks go out for the holidays in some form, I don't see it too often here. Frontier gave us beautiful pieces, so why not try?  :D

mineraljunction - I hate the scale in game, I'm having a lot more fun with the correct scaled buildings. It's a pain to make but worth it in the end.

Berlin87 - The wooden beam is my favorite piece, it's so slim and perfect for almost everything.

joutlaw - Don't dig too deep.

InfiniteChaos - Of course there will be more, but now I've re planned things and made a different park, you'll be seeing things change as time progresses.

matt9537 - Christmas in Silver Dollar City is gorgeous so I took major inspiration from them. I love when parks get decked out for the holidays.

Montu - Thanks!

johnycanon8 - Aww!  Well I'm no ways a master. Just a young grasshopper in training.  ;D This entire park is a trial run, many things I've never attempted before but want to make work.

UPDATE 3: OMG RAPIDS!!11!!

That title name was my lame attempt at excitement. These rapids are very special to me because I've never seen anyone full customize one. Let's be honest....the in game ones suck. I hate the minimum track length, like why can't I have sharp turns?!?! *calms self* Anyways I went ahead and did custom walls, stairs, added pipes and will be adding much more.

I didn't want a round station(mostly due to lack of space) but also because most rapids I have been on don't have a rotating platform.

After you leave the station and a quick turn you're going up the lift to an old church. These walls were a pain but after a bit they became relaxing to do.

This church was originally where the Manor is now. The idea was an old church town started a small park but felt that it wasn't quite right. It was too nice to delete so I moved it here.

The gates open to let the raft drop down.

VERY much WIP, adding a watermill and working on the entrance of the cave(which honestly the whole cave might get scraped, I wanted an indoor section but not feeling it. Kind of is just a massive lump.)

Overview of the rapids. The path at the top will become a pump station for the ride. I'm also redoing the vegetation(too overgrown and not right)

Oh and Christmas arrived into the Gardens.
:D

OMG RAPIDS AND LIGHTS!!11!  ;D

Love the rapids! It is a small and simple layout that fits the park well. The amount of detail with the custom walls and such really bring it to life.

Love the idea of using the fairy lights hanging down in the trees, and the colors you chose for the lighted garland is pretty as well!
