Monte Carlo vs Planet Coaster?
« on: August 01, 2018, 01:35 PM »
The scenario Chief Beef's Raceway is based on Monte Carlo / Monaco and its auto-racing traditions -- some of the features seem to be derived from real-world equivalents, but I haven't been able to track them down.  Especially interested in église St. Martin, L'hôtel Danielle, and Jardin Felicity (is that the fountain or the street?), although info on anything else in there would also be appreciated.  Is that bell tower and church-like building (Building 115) based on something specific?  Is Fearn Hills based on a real neighborhood?  How 'bout Boulevard Eden?  That kind of thing.

Any help appreciated!

Well, you might start with looking at this map, and then with the default Google points of interest turned on, and perhaps stroll the course with the street view.

I myself have no idea, not being an F1 fan.

Neither am I -- thanks for the link, hadn't found that!  Going down the points, part of Beau Rivage looks a bit like Boulevard Eden.  On the Casino point, L'hôtel Danielle looks like the Casino de Monte-Carlo / Opera de Monte-Carlo.  Jardin Felicity looks like a combo of Park Place du Casino (in front of the Casino) and a fountain inside of Rond-Point du Portier to the north.

No clear (to me) hits on the rest of the points until Antony Noghes -- a bit south is Avenue Saint-Martin, on which is the Cathedral de Monaco!  Building 115 doesn't look much like it, but still the best candidate for église St. Martin.

So, much appreciated!  Anybody else spot anything I missed?

. . . L'hôtel Danielle looks like the Casino de Monte-Carlo / Opera de Monte-Carlo . . .

Behind the Casino / Opera House is the Auditorium Rainier III, which isn't represented in the Chief Beef's Raceway scenario -- that rooftop design tempted me, so now I've got a version of it up in the workshop.

In mine I'm expanding the area next to the entryway behind these buildings.  If these are based on someplace specific in Monte Carlo (rather than just the general architectural styles) I'd love to know where.

Y'know what it does look like?  Church of Our Lady of the Assumption of Èze -- not in Monaco, a bit west in France.  (Check out the middle gallery picture!)  Reworking building 115 to match more closely (although the art-devs did some lovely work on this -- anybody know who made the Chief Beef's Raceway scenario?  I haven't been able to find out).

Found it while googling around, seeing if I could spot anything much like the buildings in my previous post.  Still looking . . .

Well, you might start with . . .

Thanks again for your help -- this went into a reworked scenario I just uploaded to the workshop.  Appreciate it!
