Forest Park - Family Amusement Park
« on: August 11, 2018, 07:01 AM »
Good day to you all!

Here at Forest Park we are always looking to welcome new visitors both young and old. I would like to show you around our small park that has been around since the early 80's.

With the help of our partner (Hethetheth) we have got the park to a standard that welcomes new investment.

Our Entrance is maintained by our own greens keepers.

We have Go-Karts for the smaller adrenaline junkies. They have been thrilling families since 1996.

One of our opening day attractions, Vintage Vehicles will keep the little ones occupied.

The Flume has been cooling guests down since 1999.

The Guplee Boardwalk has all the fun of the fair! With rides new and old, this is where Forest Park started.

It is home to the Boardwalk Coaster.

Finally,

Thunderbolt, our headliner. Clattering away since 2001.

Rides and Attractions:
  • Thunderbolt - Wooden Coaster
  • The Flume
  • Railway
  • Nessie - Kids Coaster
  • Vintage Vehicles
  • Go-Karts
  • Boardwalk Coaster
  • Gulpee Wheel
  • Madness - Round Up Ride
  • Loop the Loop - Classic Looper Ride
  • WHIRLWIND - Classic Sizzler
  • Ghost Train

We hope to see you soon for the 2018 season!

Looks terrific! Love the purple on the log flume! You may want to add a fence by the log flume path.

The entrance garden is beautiful.

Looks nice and I like the small theme park vibe. There is a lot to do and there are classic attractions which really plays with the old/classic feel. Overall, this is off to a great start.

It's nice to see you back with a new park. So far, it looks like a very nice beginning. It's got that small town theme park feel to it.

Thank you for all your kind words.

Sadly today we have to share some upsetting news.

Our beloved Ghost Train suffered a fire.

Our CCTV captured these images.

The damage was caused by a short in a smoke machine which started a fire.

In the past week since the fire, it has been decided that the ride will be removed over the coming days to make way to a more modern approach to a classic scare.

In an official statement the park owners said
"We are grateful that this accident did not occur when the ride was occupied by staff or indeed guests. We will apply stricter measures to any special effects that are used in our rides. We will now decide what to replace our classic ride with but until then, we have some exciting news to share with you all shortly."

You really need to rename this park.  There was, until 1963, a rather interesting park in St. Louis called FOREST PARK Highlands.  But in that year, it pretty much burned to the ground.

I like how you added the 'raster' lines to the CCTV screen image. I wonder what the updated scare ride will be? Another darkride I presume.

I had no idea about that. Thanks for pointing it out. I won't be changing the name yet as I had no idea that park existed. Tragic. There was a user here a few years ago who made Chernobyl: The Ride. He couldn't understand why he caused some upset.

Always fun when people take the time to stage shots for the story, even if it means losing time put in.  But you know, for a ride called "Ghost Train" it looks spooky enough to just stay open with a burnt facade as part of the theme.

Chernobyl The Ride sounds like something I would do, and then regret, and then say "But what about Titanic?  Too soon?"

Forest Park - Family Amusement Park Press Announcement
Coming Soon

A thrilling family coaster is coming to Forest Park. With the unfortunate accident on the Ghost Train we have decided to lighten the spirits of our guests with this announcement. We are planning to build a family spinning coaster that will offer stunning views of the park and provide some fantastic thrills.

Our concept art, seen below, will give you an overview of what you can expect next season.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Get ready for Treetops!

See you all very soon!

I was only suggesting a name change to avoid bad luck.  There was a real Forest Park and it burned down.  Your Forest Park has now also had a fire.  Might be a sign that the name is jinxed :)  I wasn't being serious.

Anyway, that looks like a fun spinning coaster.  I like how you used a filter to fake it being "concept art" :)

Spoiler (hover to show)

With the unfortunate demise of the Ghost Train - it has been with great sadness that the Boardwalk Coaster has also been closed permanently. Over the last few years it has been open with less and less visitors wanting to ride the classic ride. It will be removed to make way for a slight Gulpee Boardwalk expansion that will open with the our new coaster.

The fences are up!

*fast forward a few weeks in the off season*

The expansion has been laid down and is ready for it's new residents.

Our classic Barbershop Sing-A-Long has a new new home, stage and light show.

The chaps are busy practising for opening day.

Powertrip is the first ride to be erected on the new expansion.

There is now a place where guests can eat their lunch, along with a new retail unit.

A Dodgem track has also been put on the site of the old coaster.

Forest Park cannot wait to open this new expansion in tandem with the new coaster.

See you shortly for opening day!

I always lament the death of a classic old coaster so I drink to the shade of the Boardwalk Ccoaster.  May it find the Valhalla of old coasters  :clover:

HOWEVER, the new stuff replacing it is top-notch!  And I can already hear hip-hop coming from that quartet, given the awesome stage ;)

Heheh, "Massacre Manor"

Well, I wonder what it could be!?

Forest has been removed from the Park Entrance... all will be revealed shortly. I mean, it is nearly October right?...

Having a wander around the park as the weather turns is lovely.

Thunderbolt is still drawing a crowd, even after all of these years.

Our newest investment is also pulling large crowds in it's first season. Which is obviously good!

We do have announced that the beloved Flume will be closed from next week until further notice for a 'Seasonal alteration'...

We will see you shortly...

BTW, "as the weather turns"....  Here today the heat index is at 105F due to the continued heat and high humidity.  Pretty much just like July still

So, we are happy to announce FRIGHT Park for October!

We have two mazes (one which will become a permanent addition to the park) and a Haunted Hedge Maze!

Our other attractions will also be open until 10pm, giving you a new experience of the park.

Sadly The Flume will be closed until next season for a slight re-theme and maintenance.

It will be back...

See you in October for Fright Park!

It's here... be prepared for the scariest night of your life.

Our spooky attractions are graded by Pumpkins. 1 being a ghost shouting boo to 5, your worst nightmare.

All of our rides (except the flume) are open tonight also!

Vintage Vehicles at dusk still pleases the whole family.

Thunderbolts lights look great too!

Our Barbershop show is also looking great in this light.

They look even better at night.

So, onto our tamest maze...

Situated just off to the left of the Gulpee Boardwalk is a new Hedge Maze which will be a seasonal attraction.

Horror Hedges clocks in on the pumpkin scale at 2.

There are dead ends, things that go bump but there is a way out... maybe...

The next maze which is a temporary build is The Cabin. Situated just off the Gulpee Boardwalk, this maze will transport you to the 1980's and the era of classic slashers. A masked redneck stalks his prey before murdering them and laying them to rest in the walls of his cabin.

This has a rating of 4 Pumpkins. So expect live actors and some separation from your group. The actors will not touch you.

Now the headliner of Halloween.

Massacre Manor. A full 5 pumpkins.

A version of this maze will run all year but at Halloween it will be your worst nightmare.

Focusing on your primal fears this maze will put even the toughest patrons to the test. Live actors, separation, animatronics, confined spaces and the actors can touch you...

It really is not for the faint of heart. Trust us.

This is of course built on the grounds of the old Ghost Train. It seemed only fitting.

Check back soon for a look at the new Flume and what's coming next to FrightForest Park.

The makeover looks quite good and the new spooky attractions look suitably intimidating.  How do the mazes work?  Are they rides or walk-throughs?

There is a ride in the Manor house, the rest are for show.

Here is a small update as the Spooky Season comes to an end...

The fences are down around The Flume.
