Renee Feu Adventure Park - Egypt
« on: August 23, 2018, 07:38 AM »
Well - here is my next adventure in PlanCo.
I'm going to try and use a park I created in RCT3 as the starting point. While I will switch a few things out...I will try and follow that old park layout as much as I can.

I'm also trying to decide if I will just some construction pictures, but mostly completed work (like I did with my Star Wars park), or if I will show work as is progresses...maybe even do some build videos???

Anyway - here is how my mind works.
I first draw a real rough draft of the whole park layout to start working with.

Here is it color coded - lands are inspired from the Indiana Jones movie locals

Purple - entry plaza and Port of Call. A central market place with shops and places to eat and get supplies for your adventure to exotic locals around the world. There may also be a few small flat rides here and a train station and boat station.

Light Green - Jungles of the World. Lush jungles with mystery and danger lurking around every bend. There will be a coaster and raft ride here as well a flat or two.

Light Purple - Venice. a quaint village area with waterways and shops  - not sure what this will be yet, but maybe a shopping district with a flat ride.

Pink - Area 51. The government has alien and mystery stuff here that you never know can happen if released- dark ride and maybe a coaster

Gray - Temple of Doom - Race through the caverns on a wild mine train coaster. This area may also have mystery caverns deep below.

Green - Germany. Castles and villages are the setting for Indy's latest adventures

Dark blue/green - not for sure yet, but maybe Hong Kong where there will be a night club and a car ride

yellow - Egypt - Beware of the mystery of the pyramids. Desert setting with a tracked ride and a coaster or two.

Tan - Africa. an extension with Egypt and a place where jungles and animals lurk in the shadows. There will be a water ride and other flats in this area.

The dark blue lines are general placement of the rivers that will hols a boat transport ride. black blocks are planned stations
The dark purple line is a train transport that also has black station locations.

No fair starting with a plan! :D

Anyway, I look forward to seeing this.  If it's only half as good as SWL, it'll still be awesome ;).  Are you taking suggestions for the "not sure yet" area?  There are a few places not already on your list.  Mediterranean islands (with our without U-boat bases), the Holy Land, the Andes, the Colorado Plateau (although Area 51 is already in the US SW), or even the big city university where Prof. Jones taught class.

Yes - I have a few open areas in case what I have planned grow a bit bigger than I think I need, but also some other areas.
I have the University (Harvard, even though I know thats not what the university was...I need to look it up) penciled in the upper corner along with Hong Kong. I also have The West penciled in for the ? area...like the beginning of the the third movie. I also have Tibet on an island, but I didn't mention that in my list. I'm also going to go through all my Young Indy TV show disks and see if maybe I can pull something ut of there. Lots of WWI stuff on that show. Africa/Paris/and maybe even a war battle zone land??? Hmmmm.

That is about how my plans look when I actually draw them out. Mind-mapping is a great strategy for anything. It provides a safety net that helps fight creators block. I cannot wait because the story-lining is looking great as well!

Here is what the rough plan is for the entry plaza. I should hopefully start building it this week.

OK - Opinion time. I was working on this park...and I'm thinking of switching it up from a licensed entity (Indiana Jones) to more of a Planco branded park...say Renee Feu' Adventure Park. It will have most of the same planned ideas in the map, but with some slight twists where needed. It will have the same look and feel, only PlanCo based. What do you think?

Well, seems to me that you would have a lot more success (and fun) making an Indy-ish park rather than attempting to stay true to the movies (or Disney rides). All theme park sims are lacking in some way or other; best to take advantage of what's available rather than trying to force it to fit a narrow (Indiana Jones) theme. That's my 2 cents anyway.

I say "Trust your instincts, Luke.  Turn off your targeting computer."  No disrespect to your awesome Star Wars park, or anybody else's parks inspired by or even recreated from real life stuff.  Those are quite hard to do well, as I'm finding out myself with Dixie Landin'.  However, I honestly prefer to see folks let their own imaginations flow unconstrained by trying to conform to something pre-existing.  This is mostly because I utterly lack imagination myself so regard exhibitions of imagination by other folks as magic shows ;).  But also, I get more ideas to steal that way :D.

So, I decided to switch away from Indy and make this park a female branded adventure park. It will still have all the same plans and very Indy influenced as far as rides, locations and sets, only branded with Renee instead. I will change the name of this thread to reflect this.

It will basically be the same park, just branded differently.

I like the idea of a Renee Feu park! She's a great character and my favourite Planco entertainer. Can't wait to see what you will build! :)

Stepping back a bit...finished the security check point on the entrance walkway. Its below the bottom of that last picture above.

BTW - the lights are from Brandon's Outdoor Lighting Pack...great stuff he made in this pack.

The security checkpoint even has a metal detector if needed.

Some custom bridge supports as you look back across to the security entrance

This is looking so promising. The plans that turn into reality are so great. I really can’t wait to see how this one shapes up.

As guests pass through security and cross the bridge to adventure, they pass across the entry plaza. A place to meet friends and gather before you enter the park. This are is speckled with little scenery and garden areas that set the stage for the adventures to come. There are also planted berms around the edges to hind the parts of the park that will bend around the plaza area.

Here is the area from above.

This is what I like! You took a mind-mapping sketch and made it come to life in Planet Coaster! The entrance is setting a high standard for the park itself, so I am very excited about this project.

Nice scenery and detail on a comparatively empty area.  This definitely sets the standard for the actual park ;)

I have been working on a house remodel project, so haven't had much PC time recently. I worked on the whole park layout a bit and here is what it is looking like right now. It will get modified as I start with the details.

the white line is the current proposed train track and stations
the blue line is one of the river boat transportation line and its stations
the green line is the second river boat transportation line and its stations

Looks like fun ;).

I see there's a bug with the river boats now that makes them useless as transport rides.  The boats don't stop at any but the 1st station.  I expect this will get fixed shortly so go ahead and build it as you want it, but don't be surprised if it doesn't work as you want to start with.

I hope this gets fixed as I need them to be transports for this to work. I see that the trains have the same issues.
Anyway - trying my part at the 3D image...here is one of the security area.
