Euro Reptarland
« on: August 25, 2018, 01:54 PM »
Just a little project I started working on recently...

Ever since seeing Rugrats in Paris the same year I actually went to Disneyland Paris, I have been enthralled by the idea of Euro Reptarland and it's lurid, over the top Japanese / almost Vegas-like theming in the middle of Paris.

Pardon the tacky American tourist wearing the tie-dye Pokemon shirt, sandals, and a Dolfi fanny pack from Novotel. :whistling:

At one point in time I considered recreating the park in Google Sketchup, but now that we have Planet Coaster I think it lends itself as a better medium for the park. Anyway, stay tuned for future updates! Or follow the progress as I post it on the BroNation discord!

My first attempt at creating something organic from art shapes. I think it turned out pretty alright.

It's times like this when I wish the entertainers were recolorable though.

Wow, that's an awesome specimen of Gulpisaurus bordewykii .  Seriously, excellent work!  If this is your 1st such sculpture, I recommend doing more as you obviously have a knack for it.

I can't wait to see this park take off. The sculptures are bloody brilliant and it all seems completely bonkers and chaotic. I love it.

Wow. For your first attempt, that's really good. I hope you continue with this project because it sounds awesome.

Thanks! I can't wait to show you more, but for now, here's a small preview of the Reptar Theatre.

Shot of "Mt. Fuji" and main entrance to the theatre.

Takes a big garage to get Reptar in and out for parades and stage shows. ;D

Wow, that theater is bigger than most entire parks  :o  Anybody want to bet on the number of parts?  I'm going to guess at least 7000 :)

Hahaha. It's actually not too hard to recolor, I've done it once already. As for part count, the shell of the theatre is surprisingly only about 4500 parts. I tried to keep part count as low as possible. :D

Hehehe, I myself also thought of Expo City when I saw this :).  I also thought of a cooling tower for a power plant, what with the hyperboloid profile.

Wow, that makes the incredible freehand compound curves even more impressive.

Those are 2 things that are individually excellent but I don't really think they go well together :)

I think you and 89James89 should team up and work together. You both have very bizarre ideas. (And I mean that in a good way)

That last overview shot is GENIUS!!!
I think like I live like I work like I love.....voluminous and disjointed. Get used to it.

Ah, OK, now I get it.  I had never heard of this whole story/series.  I'd thought you were making it all up yourself so was offering some constructive criticism.  Now I see you're basing it off ....  well, not a physically real thing, but an intangible real thing.  And doing quite an accurate job of it.  Very nice ;)

Thanks! You wouldn't be able to tell it, but a couple hours has been put into the making of this 30 second firework/light show so far...

I'm unfamiliar as well, but you're really nailing the source material.  I'm enjoying learning how extensive your talents are and looking forward to where this goes.  Congrats on your front page spotlight, well deserved.  People really need to see this.

Your work is ... unique. And awesome. I like the tower, but especially the japanese clockhouse. Hope you'll upload it some day soon as Workshop object. Would like to see and learn how you have build this all.

Still bonkers and super cool.
And as someone who has recently built a big weird round shaped building, I can really appreciate that big blue structure.
