Wegeforth Bowl

Wegeforth Bowl, the zoo's amphitheater, was built in 1936 and named after founder, Harry M. Wegeforth. Many types of entertainment have been presented here over the years, including the original seal shows, live concerts, and even theatrical plays.

Currently playing at the amphitheater is "Wild About Animals", a tribute to the zoo's 100+ years and featuring many of the zoo's animal ambassadors.

Bordering Wegeforth Bowl is a large mural highlighting milestone events over the zoo's 100+ years.

A pair of animal sculptures provide a great photo spot for guests.

A little pre-show entertainment is presented before the show.

There are several video presentations during the show on the large video screen above the stage.

Throughout the show, guests are introduced to the many animal ambassadors, like this Scarlet Macaw.

Andean Condor

Striped Hyena

Eurasian Owl

Grey Wolf

Kona is a companion dog to Koda, the Grey Wolf. The zoo teams up domestic dogs with some of its ambassador animals, like the wolves and cheetahs. This teaming gives the animals security and confidence and creates close bonds between the animals.

Kona and Koda

Before the "Wild About Animals" show began its run, the more humorous "Camp Critters" entertained guests. Like the current show, "Camp Critters" featured the zoo's ambassador animals performing for the audience. You'll notice that a much needed shade cover has been added to the amphitheater since then.

Kettle Corn

Located right outside the Wegeforth Bowl is the Kettle Corn stand. You've gotta have popcorn for the show, right?

There's lots more offered here, like churros, soft pretzels, chips, cotton candy, and assorted drinks.

I don't think I realized how much larger wolfs were than dogs. Wow. What a cool exhibit. :)
