Fun Spot! - Story Park
« on: May 01, 2020, 12:06 PM »
It all sorted on my morning cycle to work, driving past the fields and farms and minding my own business then it hit me.. a HUGE for sale sign, which was now sold? It's news to me! But then again I don't usually take any notice on these kinds of things! Curious though, as soon as I got into work I was checking out local news to see who had snapped up the land. Sedwicks apparently? A showman that was looking for a more permanent base, typically specialising in local funfairs. Whilst on dinner break I bought it up into conversation, however, there were a few "grumbles" about this happening due to the nature of the business. I personally am rather excited.

I managed to get a snap of the sign before work, it looks like a heafty bit of land that was sold!

When I did eventually finish work, that also being asked to do over time..  I took my drone out to see the sheer scale of the site and, if done correctly could be onto something!

Pretty cute for just some farm land and cows! Don't you think?

Months passed and work got SUPER SUPER busy, and I was doing a heck load of overtime, but when I had 5 minutes at work I picked up the local newspaper and saw an unusual article. Remember that old farm down the road? Well, it looks like its open! A few people at work were moaning about the que times, and little to do at the park, but I am more grateful that something like this has happened to a town like ours?

We all know what the media are like for scaremongering, but I had to see it for my own eyes to  believe it!

Well.. alot has changed huh?  8|

So it appears the park are currently opperating a "pay per ride" system. I did enquire about a ride wristband but they arent offering this. Ah well!

And they wernt kidding! This place is so FULL! Honestly it was crazy crowds and this was on a Monday at around 3pm! Jheez!

Whilst here, I saw ALOT of staff entering, and leaving this green building. Im gussing its some kind of office or break room? Kinda neat they're using a old farm building though I guess!

DRONES BACK! So, I did a small flyover to see what it was actually like and theres just two coasters and a paratrooper flat ride. It is kinda small to be honest..

And heres the money shot again.. but edited  :shifty:

Although I didn't get the meet any of the managers, I did get quite friendly with some of that staff here and started quizzing them about the news article. And they kind of leaked some information that I may or may not have supposed to have found out..  :whistling:

Quote
When we came, we were told to set everything up real quick and "get the show on the road" It all comes down to money at the end of the day. I think the bosses knew they screwed up rushing the park to be open with limited ride. Heck I even think some of this stuff is rented! All I know is something BIG is in the pipeline and they're planning on adding a high throughput attraction at the back of the park. It's all hush hush at the moment though whilst they close a deal or something..

Whilst talking he did point out where it would be. And by the looks of it, depending on what exactly it is it's going to be quite a squeeze! I'm planning on either tracking the owners down for a mini-interview and to quiz them or emailing them to find out what's going on!

But for now over and out!

I agree with Berlin87, the early morning shots are stunning. I also liked the newspaper article. I read all the oh-so-important international moose news as well. Ha!

Hey I'm back! Work has been super busy! I think I forgot to tell you I work in a restaurant? But basically people have been phoning in and I've been picking up the extra shifts, you get the idea. Not alot more has really been said about the new park. We've had a few customers comment on the ques and people that did actually get to go on the rides said they were pretty neat, but again the general feel as the park is lacking, which I can understand. I did manage to snap a few more photos though on my way to work one morning and there are some considerable changes so it seems..

We finally have branding and signage now known as "Fun Spot!" Another notable change is that the park is only open weekends at the moment. I think this may be due to all the construction that's ongoing in the park? My guess only though. They have however added some cute little fencing and spruced up what you could call the entrance area with some fairy lights and added a fountain in the pond. Looks pretty at this time of morning and I bet night too!

So I didn't wanna hop the fence and go into the park because there were ALOT of people on sight and I was already getting funny looks from just taking photos, but something BIG is coming as you can clearly see from that construction in the background! Looking back at the news article that was published it did say it was going in that part of the park, and without a doubt its a coaster of some sort which is exciting! Other than that not a tracked ride has been added that wraps around the lake, but that seems more towards the family market and a lot of other cosmetic changes but can't really snap a lot from here! I'm planning on going along the river at the back of the park soon to take some more photos hopefully, but catch you then!
