^ Agreed! Though my inclination would be towards Mack, in the spirit of keeping the coaster roster diverse. The current flagship ride is a B&M, so the Mack design (whatever it may be) would ideally provide something fresh and new that guests haven't experienced yet!

That video was incredible! You showcased the ride so well, you definitely have a keen sense of dramatic timing (HUGELY important for editing) and then the ride itself is immaculate too. Looking forward to seeing more, those details will really make the rest of the park shine.

That's breathtaking, masked! The sense of scale seems right on, and I'm absolutely in love with the exterior of the stadium, you detailed the building so well and the landscaping/plant beds are impeccable too.

I also want to thank Sebioff for going above and beyond what most "other" game developers will do to answer our questions...And detailed screenshots too! THIS is how to market a game and get the fans excited about your product.

I completely agree, I've been following this so intently since I came across it and Sebioff's participation in this thread has only strengthened my interest and excitement about the game.

I've been following the devlog through my tumblr account and it's so great to have all the latest updates delivered right to my dashboard! It's honestly got me pining to boot up RCT1 again while development continues, but even the promise of that much more versatile coaster builder might be enough to tide me over until release...

Dapalm, those look amazing! The theming is so thorough I didn't even recognize the invert as a Batman clone until you said it, what a way to refresh such a well-worn layout!

It looks fantastic, Grav! The marshy character of the RCT3 original has translated nicely so far to NL2, and I like the tweaks to the layout. The video you linked to doesn't seem to be working though!

If I had one criticism/suggestion, it would be that the general scale of the whole ride seems quite large. The cobra roll gives the impression of being absolutely sprawling (and proportionally-speaking quite wide/squat), which makes me wonder if the ride as a whole might benefit from a slight rescale. That said, that could also have been a deliberate choice you made when you reimagined the ride for NL2, where you aren't limited by the prefab track chunks of the RCT series.

I'm looking forward to seeing it in motion, whether it's that work-in-progress clip or a final video!

I'm supremely excited, captain! Santa Clara was what brought me back to the forums after almost 2 years away, I'm SO glad to see it revived!

That looks great, MGP! It's so cool watching this set grow and grow post-Summer Showdown, you're doing good work!

Looks fantastic and the scale is really great, it definitely gives the feeling of the forced perspective a real park would use which is no easy feat. I'm not 100% sure on the rock texture but I have no idea if you've finished it yet or not, I just figured it might be worth pointing out. The whole ride looks pretty amazing right now, though, I can't wait to see the station come together!

It looks amazing! Really really beautiful in the full environment with foliage and everything. Is all the scenery complete or are you still modeling?

Oh no! I'm really sorry to hear that, I was just thinking about this project. I have my fingers crossed that you're able to recover something of it. :(

That's some beautiful modeling you've done on the mountain! I love the layout of the coaster, the Maverick influence is clear and I can't wait to see how the scenery develops.

Everything looks fantastic so far, you've done some beautiful modeling on the scenery and the layout looks great and very Gerstlauer-authentic. I'm eager for the next update!

If you have Desperado and Grizzly from the woodie and the invert, respectively, and you envision something canyon-like for the Intamin, a name like Ravine or Mesa might be suitable, both of which would play into the geographical interest of the coaster, particularly the tunnel.

And I love the woodie! It seems exactly like something a park would build on such unusual topography, and I think it's perfect that it includes a more traditional out-and-back segment as well. Fantastic work with the layouts!

Welcome Center / New but not new at all!
« on: February 25, 2014, 11:48 PM »
Hey! It's been... a while.

The last time I was here formally was a brief stint in the fall of 2012, and that in itself was a comeback more than three years in the making, as I was originally active on the old Atari forums under the name AtomiCart.

In the last four months, after my passions had shifted to things like pop stars and blogging for about five years proper, my excitement and obsession with roller coasters was accidentally reignited, and renewed access to RCT3 in as many years helped keep it alive (unlike the 2012 occurrence, short-lived as it was). I've been playing the stock game with both expansions since November, working my way through every scenario in the original and Wild! expansions, with only the last two Soaked! parks remaining. But I dreamed of the CS and CTRs that had flourished here in my absence, and I felt I needed to pay a return visit.

I'm overjoyed at the prospect of Theme Park Studio looming much closer than the horizon now as well, and I'm eager to see how the community might (or might not) be receptive to this new tool, especially in the ways it provides things that, no matter how serious the modification, RCT3 never could.

Anyway that's all! I'm a college student now so I may not have the idle time to spend here as I once did, but I'm not going to let that stop me from dropping by frequently.

But good to see you all, old and new faces alike!
