Well everyone, I understand the forums are pretty dead now, and there may not be too many people reading this, but that is okay.

For those that have read this thread, thank you! This was my favorite park I've ever made between RCT3 and Planet Coaster. It is my pride & joy, and it is still not done yet! :P

Of course, with SGW closing, this will be my last post on this park. But I intend on finishing it (i.e. bringing it to modern day 2023), and then posting it on Steam. So look out for that if you'd really like to experience it!

Thanks everyone for the memories on this forum. It was a blast, and although a piece of my childhood seems to be weening out, it is nice to know how many others are just as interested in roller coasters as me.

Anyway, here is my final forum update on this park! Enjoy;

2016

Goliath, an RMC topper track debuted in 2016. At a height of 160 feet, a speed of 68 mph, and almost 4000 feet of track, this ride provides amazing airtime, elements, and an awesome thrill for all guests.

Many guests would consider this the best coaster in the park, and for me, I'd say so too. Here's some pics from the opening season;

Goliath repurposed a lot of Red Baron's elements, from the queue, to the station, to even the base for the sign!

It is truly massive!

Possibly the coolest element, when leaving the station, the coaster actually dives underneath the exit pathway!

And here is an overview shot of the beast!

Goliath is certainly a crowd pleaser, better get to the park early before riding it, because that line gets long!

Anyway, thank you everyone, thanks for the memories, thanks for the forums, and @shyguy if you're reading, thank you for hosting such an awesome forum!

Like I said, keep your eyes peeled for a post onto Steam! I don't have a timeline, but I'll be working on it!

Thanks everyone!

Stumbled upon your old forum post about starting a new Disney park. Man, that takes me back! It's been six years since then, and I'm curious to know how things turned out. Did your dream of a Disneyland Park at Disneyland Resort Dubai come to life?
Creating a mix of all the parks sounds like an epic undertaking. I can only imagine the incredible experiences you had in mind for visitors. The quote from Walt Disney himself, ""For all who come to this happy place, welcome,"" still gives me the warm fuzzies. It's the essence of what Disney parks are all about.
By the way, if you're up for a different kind of adventure, check out this link about climbing Kilimanjaro: https://altezza.travel/en/climbing-kilimanjaro. Kilimanjaro is a whole new world waiting to be explored.

If necessary, I'd be willing to chip in money to make sure the forums ARE backed up before they go down next week. I know server time costs money and I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is. There's just so much data here about creating CS that I can't possibly get through in the next week and doesn't exist anywhere else anymore.

I am totally serious here. I can (and am very willing to) send however much is necessary via PayPal to ensure this priceless data isn't lost to the bit bucket. Feel free to reach out to me via email or PM.

On a side note, will everything be archived for future viewing? It would be an absolute loss if all of the content on this site was lost to time. It's good to know that the cs depot won't be closing in the near future, (though that will also be a great loss once that disappears), hopefully all the custom content will find a new home. Thanks for everything.  :up:
Tentative plans are in the works to create a new home for the CS Depot files and possibly a place to view the old content of SGW (or even a working forum where people can continue to post). This is all up in the air right now, but is being serious considered and worked on by members at SGW Discord.

Wow! This is devastating news. Well, nothing last forever unfortunately. Thank you Shy Guy for hosting such an amazing site for us theme park sim enthusiast to escape the mundane of reality. Even though I wasn't a long time member here, it still was nice to have a site dedicated to theme park enthusiast (both real world and virtual). On a side note, will everything be archived for future viewing? It would be an absolute loss if all of the content on this site was lost to time. Wow, this is news to me too. This forum meant a lot to me as a kid who was obsessed with RCT3. Now I'm an adult who sometimes still manages to squeeze time to play Planet Coaster between a corporate job, a social life, and physical/mental fitness. Although I barely even have time for Planet Coaster anymore, I still like to hop on here, browse, post sometimes, and even play some Planet Coaster myself when I can.

So this is very sad news, and I definitely feel like a part of my childhood is going away :(

But, I am thankful for the time I've spent here in the community, and am very grateful for everyone, especially you shyguy, for creating this community and allowing everyone to build together.

We will all miss it here! As I'm sure the members who have drifted off do too.

Thank you shyguy

Hey guys. First of all, thanks for the kind words. I had a great time running this forum, and actually feel quite honored that the wonderful RCT3 community chose my humble site to make its home for many years. The site had its ups and downs, and sometimes was a huge pain to run...but mostly it was a joy.

There are many reasons why I have decided to shut down the site. Server prices have gotten much more expensive, for one. But that is not the main reason. The forum software is very out of date and is not being updated. This leaves it vulnerable to malicious attacks, which have already hit the CS Depot. Also, as technology advances, these forums are slowly loosing their functionality and in time may not be compatible with the newer systems that servers are and will be using in the future. Important features are already becoming broken. The email notification system no longer works, which makes it impossible to register new members. That, and aside from a few dedicated members, nobody posts here anymore. ;) And my interests have moved away from theme park sims and running websites.

I've been tempted to close the site in the past, but just couldn't do it. But now, I feel the time has come.

And no need to panic about the CS Depot. It is not closing...yet. But I do plan on closing it when the account runs out in December. But there are rumblings on Discord of plans to host the files at another location. You can check the Discord channel for more info on this.

Wow this is truly the end of an era.

It's been a blast guys, I know a lot of us of splintered away to different communities or aged out, but I enjoyed my time here and with the RCT community back at the original forums. Its no joke that I grew up with this place.

shyguy, thank you for hosting us, It's been a journey!

RCT Parks & Rides / (RCT3) World Of Discovery: Update (5/23/2023)

With the recent news of the closure of SGW, I wanted to share an update. This project has been under wraps as I have been refurbishing much of the park to be a collection of different ideas with the same "identity crisis." It has been awesome sharing this project for nearly 7 years on SGW! It is nuts to think where I was 7 years ago (freshman in college) when I started this project and it was a lot of improvising and poking creators for content (sorry y'all).

"And though each of us has our own individual stories to tell, a true adventure emerges when we bring them all together as one. "
