Title: Universal Studios Florida Recreation
Post by: Darknight on December 11, 2018, 12:52 PM
Welcome to a place where you can go beyond the screen and right into the middle of your favorite movies. Here you don't just watch the movies, you ride the movies. In this recreation you will see the iconic Universal Studios arches come to life and be a part of the action that is Universal Studios Florida.

Welcome to Universal Studios Florida!

This looks amazing already. I am super excited to see the progress. I will say with the resources we have, recreations are not as hard as they were back in the day. The hard part is really staying true to the real park and using a mix of materials. By the looks of it, you are already a member who will impress us all.

I might consider doing that as a side project if there is enough interest in it, but for now I am focusing on Universal Studios Florida.

Another former UO TM checking in! I like what you have done so far. I have some custom scenery that I was making for a similar project of mine that I've long abandoned. If you're interested in them, I'll gladly send them your way. I hate to see them go to waste. It's just the arch, some entrance buildings, and an unfinished globe. PM if you want them.

Looking good so far. The entrance looks just like the real one in Florida, with all the surrounding palm trees. I've been there once a few years back, so I look forward to watching this park grow.

I like that you're using both in-game and custom scenery, Darknight. Your computer will thank you for that as the park gets bigger. The tall palms lining the path just inside the entrance look stately. :)  Not sure about the fencing around those trees though, they sort of overpower the poor flowers underneath. Maybe add a few low-growing shrubs or plants with the flowers to add variety to the height? Not important, really. Just something that caught my eye.

Looking forward to seeing what Production Central has in store for us.

Now that you mention it I see what you mean regarding the fences. A couple of taller shrubs/flowers would definitely help that like you said.

Agreed with Cody and ShyGuy. Great use of the billboards. When possible, maybe add some custom supports to HRRR.

Yeah I really wanted to use the same building for Despicable Me Minion Mayhem in order to keep the realism of the park. That is how I came up with the idea of using the billboards and like you and Shyguy said, I think it came out pretty good.

Agreed with Cody and ShyGuy. Great use of the billboards. When possible, maybe add some custom supports to HRRR.

Thanks for the feedback. I am actually still working on Rip Ride Rockit so I may add those in if I have time. One of the key parts I want to focus on is the queue line/entrance courtyard as it is not very accurate in its current form.

Thanks! The only thing I wish I could have for the Transformer's building is the Optimus Prime statue. I could just use a billboard but it would not have the same impact. Unfortunately there are really no custom scenery sets out there for Transformers to use for that.

The added foliage makes a lot of difference; gives it a more elegant and complete look. :)  I like the new Administration Building, very studio-ish. I'm not sure if I mentioned it here before, but I really like that you have the in-game shadows turned on.  I think it makes all the difference in the world. Yeah, the RCT3 shadows are a little wonky but they're (literally) better than nothing.

Thanks for the feedback! I agree that the added foliage really completes the entrance area and when I was referencing the park I noticed I was lacking that element which is why I went back in and added it. As far as the shadows I agree with you and it really does make a difference!

Thanks! This area has been a little more challenging due to all the details and different architectural designs on the various buildings. I have been taking a little longer with this area to try to accurately replicate the look and feel as seen in the actual park.

I am studying this closely because it is looking great! I know getting the right look does take some time to be successful and making sure things are "correct." I probably will not do a recreation because that is some pure talent to nail the details and still have time to evaluate. Excellent work!  :D

Thanks for the kind words. As you can already see when doing a recreation, especially with a park with as much detail as Universal or Disney, time and patience are two things you need to have to be able to take on such a project. Based on what I have seen on your projects, I think you would be very successful at accomplishing one if you ever decided to pursue it.  :)

Inside The Studios
Providing the latest on new information and announcements for Universal Studios Florida in RCT3.

Welcome:

Welcome to the first edition of Inside the Studios! In this newly dedicated newsletter you will find new attraction announcements, more information about the park, and some behind the scenes footage of the park construction. These posts will probably be made monthly but it all depends on the progress of the park and any announcements that come up.

What's New:

Revenge of the Mummy

Just announced in the last update! Revenge of the Mummy will be recreated in full detail including the ride experience and queue line. This will now make Revenge of the Mummy the second official ride of the park after the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. In case you are wondering, for Despicable Me Minion Mayhem I stuck in the generic simulator flat ride inside the building and for Shrek 4D I used the Cinema. As those attractions are just screens, I thought that would be the best method and it gives the peeps more attractions instead of empty buildings.

Coming Soon:

The Today Show Cafe

Coming this Summer to Universal Studios Florida the Today Café will be like stepping on to the set of the popular Today show. Here you will find pastries, salads, sandwiches, and locally roasted coffees. In order to make way for this all new experience the Boulangerie will be closing very soon.

Behind the Scenes:

Within this this section we will look at parts of the park that were under construction and see some behind the scenes photos that were not shared until now. In this edition we will look at Transformers the Ride 3D in the early stages of its construction.

Feedback:

This is the end of the first edition of Inside the Studios! Thanks for reading and your feedback is welcome as I intend to change and adjust it moving forward. I am working on another update for the park so look for that very soon.

The 4th of July decorations are great! It is small details that will make your project pop! I know facade work will take some time to get it to that "just right" look. I know I cannot refrain from using certain "building styles" because they are so easy to me. Your New York/Mummy facades are looking good, and I am definitely see you developing more and more which is exactly what I love seeing!

Thanks for the feedback! As you have stated above the facades shown in Hollywood are in the very early stages of development and will see various improvements as I continue to work on that area. The facades you see in New York took several builds until I approved of how they looked in comparison to the real ones you see in the actual park.

I love the use of non-cs with the cs as it actually looks like its all non-CS. Parks like this make me really miss RCT!

Thank you! I try to use a healthy blend of both and my goal is to make it look seamless. Glad I have achieved that and it also helps the park file size if you know what I mean!  :P

There are some enticing views of Revenge of the Mummy here; looking forward to seeing that ride. I notice that some of the track is disappearing in the long shots (and the textures are kinda plain looking); have you tried moving the Draw Distance and Detail sliders up? It would make for even better screenshots. :)

I am liking the progress on this park. The scaling of the buildings is pretty well done. Some things might be a little larger due to the scenery being used, but it does not detract from how accurate your recreation is to the real thing. My favorite section is the entrance area because it is incredible! Keep up the good work!  :D

What do you want to see in the next update?

I have been actively working on various areas of the park instead of just one isolated area as this makes it more fun for me. As progress continues on the park I will occasionally let you guys decide what you want included in the next update! There will be a poll set up with options for you to pick and the top two or three options(depending on the amount) will be featured in the next update. You can also add on to these options in the comments if there is something else you would like to see. Keep in mind some of the options in the poll have been already in progress and others are not as far along as I want to get your feedback on what to work on next.

Voting Closes: August 17, 2019

Thanks! I thought it would be a good idea as like you said there are so many things to work on and as I have been working on this I have realized that I have to vary my concentration. Working on the same areas for multiple days can get rather boring and it is more exciting to jump to different areas when I need a break.  :)

Universal Studios Florida Poll #1 Results. The votes are in for what you wanted to see in the next update and SGW has spoken! As stated in my previous post above, the top two to three options would be selected based on the amount of options and votes tallied. In this poll I decided to take the top two selections. Below are the winners of this poll that will be featured exclusively in the next update:

Universal Studios Florida Poll #1 Results

Revenge of the Mummy Progress with 57.1% of the vote

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Upgrades with 28.6% of the vote

I would like to thank everyone that voted in the very first poll for this park! Your feedback is greatly appreciated and helps me improve the park and continue to build this recreation. In the future I will periodically create more polls regarding updates and other areas of the park I would like more feedback on. As far as the next update we will see the Revenge of the Mummy Queue and on ride progress. For the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit we will see a full queue remodel, courtyard redesign, track layout upgrades to be more accurate, and Music Plaza Stage cosmetic upgrades as well.

This is looking good. I think my favorite areas are the mummy exterior and the park entrance. For the future, landscaping will more than likely be the thorn in your side if you use the quarter-tile bushes (trust me on this one!). Recently, I have been using larger bushes/trees and really playing with what can be seen at the eye-level of guests. Nothing terrible, but I am warning you whenever you start getting "refurb crazy" because trust me it will happen.

I'm not quite sure what you did in the Revenge of the Mummy queue- that shot with the chain link fencing. Are those just billboard images behind the fencing? If so, it's a neat effect. The fences set the images back, visually; like there really is a room back there.

Yes you guessed correctly! They are billboard images from the actual queue line that I then put behind the fence and added a little space to give them some depth. Making it appear like rooms just like in the real Revenge of the Mummy!  :D

This is amazing work! What you did with the plaza stage is incredible! Nice work! I am getting more and more excited to turn this park into #HHN30!

Thanks! I was really trying to match the style of the stage in Music Plaza and found a great Art Deco set that I felt looked very identical. At the same time I was also trying to hide the ugly Kara Oki signage so I think it worked out quite nicely!  :)

If you could private message them that would be good. I would say post them on here but since you are using Brad's recreation and it is not mine I would rather not have it on this thread.
