Community Chat / Weekly Address #62
« on: October 14, 2018, 09:26 PM »
Good evening everyone! This post includes a few very important points in regards to the future!

I would like to thank everyone for their support for my absence. I am somewhat back to a normal life, and a fresh week is just what I have been needing. I am going to try to keep up with everyone's posts as much as I humanly can, but please do not take offense if I do not comment instantly.

Tomorrow is the deadline for the Halloween Competition that uses Planet Coaster and RCT. You will need to create something original and not already existing. I know I had plans to use one of my parks, but rules are rules. Please show off your scary style for this competition because it will be fun!

SGW does have a Halloween theme. If you are used to the seasonal look you can find it on the home page in a drop down menu. Another way to get in the spirit is to change your avatar to something spooky or even just a costume! There are many ways to get in the Halloween spirit so definitely try these things out!

Future plans call for the Weekly Ambassador to return on January 4, 2019. The final Weekly Address post will be December 28, 2018. I am going to have the due dates on Fridays with a "make-up" on Saturdays. I know I have been doing Sundays lately, but that is expected to change soon.

I will continue to work in RCT3, there has been a big topic about the activity in the RCT Games Board. I for one do not intend on quitting anytime soon. I have too many projects to just get thrown away, so I am planning a ton of posts to get more activity in both my creations and the overall board. I know Planet Coaster is planning on user-generated content. I do have mixed feelings about this, but we will just have to wait and see. That is an entirely different argument that I do not plan on creating.

Overall, there are many plans in place for more activity, as well as bring back what was successful. I hope everyone has a great week! Happy posting!

Weekly Question(s):
What is your favorite custom created content (if that is worded correctly)? What is something you are waiting for to be created?

Fun & Games / Favorite Halloween/Scary Movie

Okay, here is one that I may not be able to answer on the scary side. My favorite movie for this season however, is The Tower Of Terror.

Fun & Games / Favorite Halloween Candy
« on: October 10, 2018, 08:31 PM »
To keep us in the spirit how about some Halloween candy? I think many might agree that when Reece's Peanut Butter Cups are in different shapes they are even better.

Full/King size candy for Halloween is always a must!

Hey everyone! I am going to make this short sweet and to the point. I wanted to let you guys know that due to a death in the family, I will be rather busier than normal this week. My plans are to get back into the swing of things by at least Friday (park updates, posts, etc). My goal is to get through the week one day at a time and be with family as well as get through the week of classes (unless there are storm days). If there are storm days then that will probably be a posting day! I love you guys so much and please if you have anything urgent, please contact me on Discord. I try to check my personal email for SGW notifications at least hourly (unless I am sleeping or in class). Please do not hesitate to contact me!

Weekly Question(s):
What is something you are looking forward to this month?

Your Theme Park Photography / September 2018 WDW Trip
« on: October 04, 2018, 03:16 PM »
Well, I have been procrastinating for a while. I think it is time to share my "research trip" to WDW.

So, the resort plans changed as the party grew to have about 8 guests. One night we had 9, so we changed our Treehouse Villa to a Grand Villa at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani Village.

We actually went to Disney early. After my Thursday class, we got in the car and went to Disney. We arrived at about 11 PM. I knew as soon as I got in bed I was going to crash, but I just had to take tons of photos of the room!

Considering that Kidani Village is only DVC rooms, the lobby is smaller than Jambo House. At Kidani Village, the only restaurant is Sanaa which is a table service restaurant, so if you want a quick service you will need to go to Jambo House (which we did).

Walking into the room, my mom's jaw dropped. She has not been to Disney in 11 years and has only stayed in one DVC room at Old Key West and it was a 2 bedroom. Her reaction was priceless, me, my dad, and my stepmom were pretty much comfortable and felt familiar while my mom could not believe it was real.

The grand villas at Kidani Village have 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, and 3 balconies. Ours was a standard view, but we still saw some animals! Now it is time for some room photos!

Fun fact: there is a TV in the master bathroom!

Two different rooms but same look and design. The rest of the bathrooms in the unit look pretty much the same (2 upstairs and 1 near the entrance of the room).

Of course there is me with my phone in the mirror. I am not using a fancy camera, just "taken with iPhone."

Okay, so this is where the first post ends. I try to do each day as its own post. The next post will contain a few more room photos, photos at Disney's Animal Kingdom, and some photos at Disney Springs. This trip was just a weekend trip, so it will not be as many posts as the May 2018 trip. I will however see you all real soon!

Happy Sunday everyone! We are about to enter October so that means it is time to prepare your parks for the Halloween season, that is if they are not already decorated. I am excited for the Halloween competition that will be taking place using Planet Coaster and RCT3. I highly recommend participating because it will be a great time! I am going to make this short and sweet like the candy we are going to eat, but have a spooktacular time posting because SGW will for sure be a fun place to celebrate Halloween. Spooky posting!  :D

Weekly Question(s):
This past week there have been numerous theme park announcements and construction updates. Which one stood out for you? Is it good or bad? What do you think will happen in the near future?

Hey everyone happy Sunday! I know this is the old format, but life has been pretty busy lately to where I do quick posts.

Something new I have been seeing is members asking for more help than ever. Last week I had two members message me wanting different things from two different skill/building levels. I do try my best to respond as quickly and effectively as I can, sometimes my responses will be brief until I get to my laptop. I know discussing things through Discord is easy at times, but I prefer using my laptop when I need to look at something. I have no issues with anyone messaging me, I just try to politely state that I am busy at the time or even unavailable while being available.

It is fall!.....not in Florida. SGW is going to have a Halloween Competition in the Planet Coaster and RCT Games boards....yay! Should there be a need for judges, I volunteer. For you RCT3 participants, I want to see your best work! Please contact me on discord should a posting issue/question come up! I also want to be a little more harsher with the RCT3 participants because that is my main area of concentration  >:D. Planet Coaster participants will have some harshness, but I do not do much in Planet Coaster so I have no room to talk  ::).

Overall, the fall season has begun and we are going to have fun here at SGW. Please expect to see more posts from me within the coming days because I am seeing some really cool creations! Happy posting!

Weekly Question(s):
Are you going to participate in the Halloween Competition? Have you participated in other competitions? If yes, which ones? How did you do in the competition(s)? Any media to share?

(Lots of questions)

Hey everyone! I know this is super late. I wanted to let you guys know that #58 will be the new style. This post is going to be short and the old style because it is overdue. I was at Walt Disney World this weekend, and I hope to start a photo report sometime this weekend. I hope everyone is doing good and keep up the good work!

Weekly Question(s):

Considering the number of storms developing in the oceans, how do you prepare your creations for natural disasters?

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope everyone is having a good weekend. I am busy prepping for the first day of classes tomorrow and I have been getting stuff done in RCT3. This past week I have seen awesome creations and have been trying to give as much feedback as I can. I plan on watching more works and offering even more feedback. We here at SGW are about to start celebrating Halloween! I always get excited because there are many frights to explore and we always go all out in our creations. This post is going to be short, sweet, and to the point because I hope to get a lot of things done! I hope to see many more creations during my breaks between classes because they get me through the day! Happy posting!

Weekly Question(s):
What are your Halloween/Fall plans for your creations? What is your favorite real life event for this season?

Happy Saturday everyone! Today, my laptop wanted to be a little difficult, but it is up and running now. I find it so much easier to type on a laptop than to use my phone. I hope everyone is having a good weekend and hope everyone celebrated National Roller Coaster Day this past week! Some of us even started celebrating Halloween yesterday.....not me sadly. It is crazy to think that Halloween season is pretty much here....thanks Disney. SGW is a fun place to celebrate Halloween and every year there are decorations galore and many scary things to explore (yay rhymes!).

I may not have much today because I am trying to look over different posts and get feedback rolling out as soon as possible. I am going to be trying to be a little more detailed and possibly a little tougher....  :devil:
I promise not to be Simon Cowell, but some members prefer to get a little more critique than "wow that is pretty." If you have any suggestions or even want me to look at something feel free to contact me anytime on here or on the Discord.  Any messages that come to me on here go to my personal email that I religiously check, and I have the Discord app on my phone, so I frequently check that as well!

Again, I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I cannot wait for the Halloween season to fully start here at SGW!

Weekly Question(s):
How did you celebrate National Roller Coaster Day? What is your favorite roller coaster? What is the last roller coaster you have ridden?

Community Chat / Advice For Members?
« on: August 18, 2018, 08:09 PM »
So, I just thought of something we can keep going for a real long time. How about we share some advice for the lurkers, potential members, and current members?

One big thing I can say is that in our logo at the top, it says we are a "Community." This is really a true statement! SGW is a community full of talented members who share the same purpose of sharing their works/interests in hopes to inspire others to open up and really start a chain reaction. That is pretty much how this community started and the chain reaction has been going on for over 10 years!

Once you start sharing you see to build a reputation for not only for yourself but also your creations. I can point out some members just from their works alone. Definitely try to get out of your comfort zone a bit because you will get pretty good feedback from others on anything, from the ground to the sky!

Happy Sunday everyone! Shyguy is making some more changes with different things here so, I think it is time for some changes to take place with these posts. Some changes Shyguy is making can be seen very quickly.

The Weekly Ambassador will be returning in 2019.

I figured to end this year with Weekly Address posts and begin next year with The Weekly Ambassador. These posts will last over a year, so I thought to change it up and bring back one of SGW beloved features. I have gotten a lot of support for this decision and hope we can all bring back some of the elements that made SGW become popular.

On Friday, I hit my one year anniversary with the SGW staff. I put a post within the RCT Community Board because that is where my staff history began (technically a message to Shyguy). Thank you all for a year of fun and no wars (unless you message me with a RCT3 park  :whistling: )!

I hope everyone has a great week and happy posting!

Weekly Question(s):

In your time at SGW, has there been anything memorable for you? Was it a good memory or a bad memory? What are your future plans at SGW? (Probably a repeat question, but I am not an English major)

RCT Community Board / One Year Later...
« on: August 10, 2018, 05:10 PM »
Happy Friday everyone! Today is a very special day for me. One year ago on this day, I joined the SGW staff and became the board moderator for this realm of SGW. One year has flown by since then, and now I moderate two "regions," the Community Center and this board.

A lot has changed at SGW within the year, but I will never stop being devoted to this large community of dedicated members. You all have taught me a lot and that is why I want to keep being a part of the SGW staff. RCT3 was what got me to where I am now, and I already have huge plans for future creations still in the works (new parks  :whistling: ). SGW has given me many opportunities and has helped the quality of my personal projects to get even better and better. I want to thank you all for being so kind to me and you all have been pretty helpful in providing feedback for many concepts and ideas that go with my creations or some ideas of SGW posts.

I would not have these many opportunities without Shyguy and other well known members who have continued to be inspirations to me. I am honored to have worked with many members who I have admired for many years and I am honored to have the support from many of you. I am beyond grateful and hope to keep my positions for a really long time. I am having fun getting to know many of you and your works. I hope everyone has a great weekend and happy posting!

Happy Sunday everyone! This weekend has been super full of different activities with the family and close friends. I am currently studying for my final tests for both Calculus 3 and Differential Equations. I have been looking at last weeks poll and letting it develop more responses. This post is probably going to end after this sentence, but everyone is doing an awesome job at creating and developing their works. Just kidding the post ends here!  ::)

Weekly Question(s):
What is your favorite theme park restaurant? What would you recommend eating there?

Community Chat / Weekly Address #51 (Changes?) POLL
« on: July 29, 2018, 12:09 PM »
Happy Sunday everyone! I have been pretty busy this weekend, but I have come up with some ideas to bring back some classics to SGW. Shall we dive right in?

It is almost one year since I got the golden ticket to join the SGW staff. A few things have changed since then. I have been experimenting with some different things and trying to live off of feedback from members. Please consider this a proposal, as I do not know how some members will feel about this one:

I want to bring back The Weekly Ambassador.

I am thinking of different ways of doing this, but I feel the name "Weekly Address" is kinda too political and demanding. It was a spur of the moment name and I think bringing a new type of weekly "news" post is important. This has been an idea I have thought of for a bit and looked at the different posts, only to realize it is basically the same exact thing. If things get approved, the release dates will be Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays (depending on how busy things are). I have not told anyone about this thought because I did not want to just jump in on something that once existed. To see what you guys think, I will put a poll on this post and see an overall opinion. Comments and direct messages are always welcome because I want to know what everyone thinks before I make an executive decision.

I want you all to take this with a grain of salt because I do not know what the general opinion is. I do however hope you all have a great week and be sure to have a great time here at SGW!

Weekly Question(s):
SGW has a history within the theme park gaming community. What is something you are going to be remembered for in this community?

Happy Saturday everyone! This has been a busy busy week! During my freetime, I have been getting more and more ideas for expansions and different developments in my personal projects. Been watching many vloggers on youtube to get inspired, and I have been looking through many posts to see if I can latch onto a theme that I know I can work with.

July is flying by quickly and the heat is only getting crazier! Today, we had a 107 heat index. This is in Northwest Florida, so if any members are near the panhandle, you knew today's struggle! I know many of us are very hot, so be sure to stay hydrated and keep a good relationship with you air conditioning.

Last week's post had very thoughtful responses and some really good answers to the weekly question(s). I know it gets hard to find an "open" question that can embody every skill on SGW. I did really love the words of encouragement, and it makes me feel my decisions are right. My life goal is to become a Walt Disney Imagineer, which has brought me here to share SOME (not all) ideas. Sometimes the ideas are fuzzy due to some limitations, but I am very much thinking of backtracking in some works to get things flowing better with the concept process.

I did get my textbooks for the fall..... lots of recent math concepts (Laplace Transforms, Triple Integrals, etc). I know there are many of us that are going to school, so I hope everyone is either doing good in their current semester or having a good break! Many of you can tell that I am far from an English Major! (ewwwwwwwwwwww)  :P

I know this post is everywhere, but engineers hate paragraphs. We do not even know what a paragraph is. Have a great weekend and future week everyone!

Weekly Question(s):
What is something extinct from an amusement park would you bring back? Would you re-theme it or leave it as is?

(Yes, this is very vague but I tried)

Happy Saturday everyone! It has been super hot and that means it is great weather for the beach or a day in the pool! I hope everyone is providing lots of air conditioning and different things for guests to survive in these temperatures in your respective games and creations.

I have been lurking and doing simple posts. Last night, I did some work on one of my personal projects and hope to do some more posting soon. Things are settling down with my math classes because the semester ends in early August. I have roughly two weeks before I transfer to the university where I will pursue my Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, so I hope to get real creative and nail some big parts of projects. I will try to be a little more active as my numbers are a little low compared to my target monthly goals (50-100 per month is my goal). Yes, I have personal goals which is something I try to inspire others to do. Baby steps is all it takes to become successful in ones personal perspective.

These posts will probably change up a bit once the one year mark hits. I try to hit one year marks before making huge changes. It gives me time to analyze what works and what doesn't, as well as what will bring more activity and what will be seen as inspiring. These are informal posts because has been just me reflecting on each week from both personal and site-wide perspectives.

All in all, this post is a quick reflection and somewhat mind map of what I am thinking. Like I said, I have been lurking and will be posting more as time progresses. I hope everyone had a good week and keep up the good work!

Weekly Question(s):
What is the most difficult skill to master in the game you play? What is your technique to mastering the difficult skill, or how have you worked on mastering the skill? (This might be going in a circle, but it's a critical thinking question)

Happy Sunday morning everyone! I just got done doing a live stream for my World Of Discovery project. It was not the best live stream, but hey it is something! I hope to do more videos soon and hope to branch out more! SGW has been pretty calm lately, and I am sure everyone was having fun on July 4, especially in the United States. Overall, I am happy to see SGW get festive for different holidays and it is always a great time to check out projects that are celebrating.

I know this post is short, but I just wanted to say good job to everyone! We are one of the best communities for theme park games and simulations and I hope we can continue to be that way!

Happy Sunday everyone! I know this is a late post and a new week, but we are now in July! SGW is getting ready to celebrate the Fourth Of July with many members sharing their patriotic creations. I hope everyone is doing great and I would like to share some future plans for my personal projects.

One thing I am considering is making more videos, but base them on Disney Parks. This will include some different hot topics as well as concepts I have made that I highly recommend Disney looking at. I am planning on doing this sometime this year and will make sure SGW plays a role in it.

Another thing I am considering is doing more question posts to get more conversations going. It works pretty well in here, and I hope to bring in more questions within SGW. These posts are slowly getting rusty as I have been noticing, so I am still looking at ways to spruce things up a bit.

SGW turned 10 recently, and I want to make sure that we stay one of the best communities for all aspects of theme parks. I have seen many things during my time here and when I was a lurker, and I know we are just getting started. SGW is becoming the place to become noticed within the theme park gaming community as a whole, so who knows who is watching!  :whistling:  Happy late Birthday SGW!

Weekly Question(s):
With SGW turning 10, what advice can you give to members? What brought you to SGW?

Considering I mostly visit Walt Disney World, my favorite snack has to be the mickey premium bar.

Happy Saturday everyone! It is officially summer.....even though in Florida it has been summer for a while! Things are starting to happen in the theme park world that will more than likely inspire our virtual theme park world. I know I am closely watching what Disney is doing just incase there is an idea that I love or want to change up a bit. SGW is the place to showcase your projects and everyone is incredibly talented.

This is post number 46 in the Weekly Address history and I plan to continue doing these no matter what. I am still considering how to spice it up once I hit a full year of these posts. Much of it is experimenting what gets more responses and what do members like to see. I know many of us like photos and videos so I am strongly considering it. I love hearing from members and that is why I do weekly questions to get some opinions on different topics that I feel might peak interests.

Time is flying because I know my personal projects are gaining years of age. Things have changed for the better for me and I am only wanting to do more for SGW. I do have some plans in place for staying fresh, but I wanna knock out some to-do list items in my projects first before revealing anything big.

Yes, this is a reflection and it may be a little boring, but I have learned it is good to be optimistic and have hope for the future. I hope everyone has a great weekend and be sure to enjoy the summer in some way!

Weekly Question(s):
Many movies have been coming out, have you seen any of the big releases? (Incredibles 2, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, etc.) Besides from what has been done already, are there any theme park ideas based upon the film(s) you have seen?

Happy Sunday everyone! I know this is super late, but lots of fun stuff came up. So, I am finding simple questions that are fun for members to answer within this board. I have a few prepped and even some responses. I am trying to get more activity within the boards I am the moderator of, so if anyone has an idea start the topic! Do not be afraid to brainstorm because I want you to actuate your idea! I am hard at work with multiple projects and checking on things making sure things are running smoothly. Setting up weekly goals for SGW for myself and trying to make sure I keep staying active and available. Like I said, I have been slammed, but SGW is my virtual home to showcase anything that comes to mind about theme parks! I hope everyone is having a great weekend and keep up the amazing work! Happy posting!
