Hello,

Just a thought , the title of this thread.
But since we do make / create parks during dark hours, have you ever visited one during the evening?

I know i havent, so i cant speak from experience.

Despite rct3 being an older game, parks like this make it wonderful to watch the development of the story. Awesome work!

This seems to be the first DLC (of the 5 bigger ones) that has a divided recommendation on steam by players. Not that i find that leading, but it might say something.

I'm no expert but the impression I got from Google images is that big upturned roof corners aren't much of a thing in the general Himalayan region (Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, etc.).  They use more conventional roofs with only some small trim spikes on the corners.  In Nepal, there also seems to be a thing about making the eave about 2m higher than and 2m outboard of the underlying tower walls and filling the gap with angled bracing.  In old buildings, this angled bracing is open but in this new government building, they've filled it in.

I was thinking of building my next park in some forgotten Himalayan valley and thought this particular building would make a good park entrance.  So inside it would have ticket booths, info booths, lockers and strollers, plus some munchies and restrooms.

Oh grumble...the moment you mentioned Himalayan valley i get this instant picture in my head of tall snowy mountains, lots of rocks, pine forrest, asian temples, ancient ruins, and in between an amusement park.

Sigh, ideas ideas  :whistling:

Been looking at the 2 videos from Geekism. The free update looks oke, especially the transport ride. The paid DLC looks nice due to the building-styles you can create. I might buy this one.

I still would like to finish the ship i was building. RCT:W is not working for me anymore (steam conflict?) so i cant update my posts. Here is hoping i might be able to continue it inside PC but i will have to wait if the use of Blender3D is allowed.

What im looking forward to? To have playing time again.  Lately i have not played PC due to not having enough rest in my mind.  Id still like to start a park thread and see where it takes me. I hope the near future brings better times.

Im not sure ill join in. Halloween is an event i dont celebrate so i have no feeling with it.  In my humble opinion the love and energy you put in creating a theme park shows how much you enjoy it in real life. :)

Blender (which is free) DOES allow animations.  Also, supposedly the Blender crew has cracked the secret .fbx format and includes an import/export routine in Blender so you can make the model in the Blender format, then export it as an .fbx.  While I have used Blender a fair amount, however, I've never used this feature so can't say whether it works or not.  But I'll definitely try it as, of course, it costs nothing ;).

it works Bullethead. I have exported many .fbx files using Blender.
I will wait with getting excited about this new tool. If they wont allow blender as creating tool, it will only be a few who can make items. I wont be buying Autodesk Maya (to expensive).

To answer your question:  i would never get up early just to see something new in a theme park. The hype concerning new stuff is kinda lost on me.  I think the last time i visited an amusements park would be 10 / 15 years ago.

Thank you wowmanrct for your feedback. Very much appreciated! Funny that you mention the location of the sunken stage area. I was already thinking 'sure, making a large garden next to the hotel-castle is nice, but there should be more to it. Perhaps the stage area will fit better there. Will mean i have to decide on what to do with the church area. :)
Yes, im still willing to continue to work on the park. Im hoping i get some play time tomorrow so who knows i get to create a park-thread then.

in general: thanks to all who joined, competitors and judges alike. Your feedback kept me going, triggering to do my best (under the circumstances).  This was my first real try at playing the game, join an event and create a park. And i certainly would like to do so again. :)

I think you're referring to the 2 logs turned on their side?

For the "phone booth", it's only supposed to be a decorative light fixture that fits the theme of the area.  The light itself with the horizontal slats is part of BBordewyk's light set.   But I think we can go with "radiating beam" as well, because that adds much more purpose than what I intended ;)

yes, i meant the 2 logs. I have not found them ingame , but maybe i have not searched well enough. :)
I did see the same decorative idea come back in the door in the background so i assumed it was meant as theme-binding.
I will check out the light set you mentioned.

Forgath, when you get time I highly recommend taking a walk around this park. The photos don't even come close to how awesome it is. From the ceiling design to the cohesion. Highly recommended the tour.

I intend on taking the tour. :) However, its the same with me being able to spend time / build my own park (for the contest), i have time once a week at the moment. I am aiming to visit this park (and the other ones) this sunday.

Only had the time to view your first POV (the water ride). The cave area of your ride reminds me of how i would have liked to create the underground area in my park, filled with colourful crystals or hidden spots of unspoiled treasures. You have certainly given me ideas. :)
Question: going up the lift hill goes rather fast or is that my imagination?

I have 2 questions about your second picture, the observartory.
- Those 2 wooden (i assume its wood) beams on the right: are they part of the base game or a DLC?
- The object on top of the round statue: does it represent a radiating beam?
I admit my first thought was 'hey, that looks like an english telephone booth'  :P

But i guess make the creations extra sturdy; not fill up the whole park with concrete (to avoid flooding), and perhaps make places where people can hide safely?

@Forgath:  First off, I hope your personal situation is less bleak these days.  The scope of your problems is evident in the unfinished state of your park.  I salute you for carrying on to the end regardless.

What you did get done is quite nice, though.  I think your coaster has the best ride of all the road-crosses, although it could use a bit of smoothing here and there.  Still, it has a great layout and a generally smooth ride.  And the rapids ride certainly has great potential.  But what really strikes me is your flower trellises, which look awesome.

I hope you do indeed carry on with this park when you have a chance to get after it.  I look forward to seeing a thread on it.

Thank you for the nice words Bullethead. To be fair, i have been considering not posting this final round. I dont like showing half build stuff, i prefer to finish it first. But it is what it is at the moment. My personal situation has not become less bleak, but has 'settled' in some form of acceptance.

The lay-out of the coaster is something that just comes up in my mind when i am building it. 'Oh, lets try this'...'Lets go downhill here' ...'a tunnel perhaps?' ...Its pretty chaotic with all those ideas in mind  ;) Concerning the smoothing option: I know its there but i havent used it yet.

There are so many things yet that id like to finish, so im going to try to take it in small steps.

Hello everyone,

here is my contribution to this final round. Im pleased to present Sherwood Forest Park:



The park is about 75% unfinished. Ideas i had and have plenty but I just did not had the time available to me to make it happen. The last weeks were (and still are) rough in real life but im kinda proud i made it till the end.
This is my first park ever created in Planet Coaster and im glad my computer is still able to handle it. I also like to thank the judges and other players for their feedback which i appreciated alot. *bow*

i might start a park thread and see where it takes me. I had a lot of fun building and creating, and there is still so much unused / unfinished area in my park that tickles me to continue.

Me being a runner up feels a bit meh, knowing what entree i submitted. But i do appreciate your kind comment Salad Fries. 
Doing my best to make it worthy to be seen in the final.
